The Academy will recognize Jackson’s amazing influence on music history with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Michael Jackson’s posthumous recognitions keep on coming.

The Recording Academy has decided to reward the late singer with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his tremendous contributions to the music industry. Along with Jackson, Bobby “Mack the Knife” Darin, who is also deceased, Leonard Cohen, Loretta Lynn, and André Previn will also be honored, reports E!

These special awards will be given at an invite-only ceremony on Jan. 30, a day before the televised 52nd Annual Grammy Awards airs on CBS.

Neil Portnow, the Recording Academy president, released a statement explaining the appeal of the 2010 recipients.

“This year’s honorees are a prestigious group of diverse and prominent creators who have contributed some of the most distinguished and influential recordings,” Portnow said, reports CBC.

As for the main awards, the ladies are set to pile up the trophies. Beyoncé has ten nominations, including “Album of the Year” and “Song of the Year,” while Taylor Swift has eight.

De son vivant, le "roi de la pop" avait remporté 13 des prestigieux prix, notamment pour son album "Thriller".
